Pathology Results are In :) :) :)

My breast surgeon called a little while ago with GREAT news about my final pathology results:

• NO cancer in the left side
• Lymph nodes on both sides are totally CLEAR
• NEGATIVE (or clear) margins in the right side which should mean no radiation
• Invasive tumors (cancer broke through duct wall) were 2-ish and 1.1cm in size with evidence of DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ - additional cancer that had not yet broken through the duct wall) in the right side

I am not entirely sure on the exact size of the bigger tumor - it was somewhere between 2.0 and 2.2.   I cannot remember what she said as Emily had just found some bubbles that she wanted me to blow for her as the surgeon called...    As a result, I am also not clear on what the exact Stage is - either I or IIA - but it does not really matter to me.   (2.0cm is a delineation between stages.)    We'll talk to the medical oncologist next week about the chemo cocktail and I'll get a copy of the pathology report for my cancer binder.

Two months ago today I found out I had breast cancer - the worst day of my life.   I won't say today is one of the best days of my life since I still, you know, had cancer, but I think it is the best day since January 14th!!!
